“I don’t know if they’ve reached that point yet, particularly because you do have Travis Demeritte who has played pretty well in his call up so I think he’s a factor out there. Guillermo Heredia clearly is part of their plan at least defensively speaking for some portion of the game and you’re gonna have Ronald in right field more times than not,” McAuley said. “I know they were looking at Contreras as an outfield candidate in spring training, I feel like that’s almost more out of necessity because they had Manny Pina in their plans to be the backup for Travis d’Arnaud, well Pina’s been hurt for much of the season so that really hasn’t materialized, Contreras is back behind the plate doing his thing there.”

McAuley said it’s important for Contreras to get regular at-bats in lineup.

“I know that wherever he is I feel like he benefits more so from getting at-bats every day or at least semi-regularly so we’ll see what they’re able to do with him.”
