The Atlanta Braves went out on the road for another strange 3-day series over the weekend, this time in Pittsburgh. The same Pittsburgh Pirates team that fired their manager last week, in fact, Friday Night’s game was the first game at the helm for former bench coach made interim manager Don Kelly. While I am not necessarily convinced that “New Coach Energy” is a thing, it sure does seem to happen a lot.
There is not one sole reason why the Braves are struggling, but if I had to select a major one, it is that they are struggling mightily at the plate, and have been for the better part of the season. Another area of struggle this season has been the 9th inning, and closer Raisel Iglesias. Iglesias has been touched up a bit this season, in fact, he has already given up more homeruns (6) this season, than all of last year (4). Iglesias has had an elite run for the Braves, and deserves every chance that he gets, but is it time to give him a chance to re-group? Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael discuss the recent struggles of the Braves closer, as well as the Braves’ offensive struggles.
