929 The Game Atlanta Braves insider Joe Patrick joined Dukes & Bell for his weekly appearance and talked about the struggles of shortstop Dansby Swanson and is he the long term answer at shortstop for the team?
When asked about Swanson’s future with the Braves.
“In two years I would say no, I think next year is up for question, I really think that he’s kinda playing himself into a non-tender situation. Obviously we don’t really know what the arbitration number will be like for a guy like him, maybe it’s lower than we’re thinking,” Patrick said. “I think he’s really played himself into that kind of contention, I think if you’re the Braves you’ve got to start looking at options of who is going to be the next guy because you can’t keep on with this kind of production.”
“Especially defensively too he hasn’t been as sharp as we’ve seen him in the past, so I really think somethings got to give. Either he’s got to turn his form around and show that he’s going to be a long term piece for this team or the team’s got to start planning otherwise.”
