As a rookie last season, Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider set the league on fire as he earned a starting position and nearly won NL Rookie of the Year (an honor that went to fellow Braves rookie, Michael Harris II). During his rookie season, Strider showed a poise in crunch time well beyond his years and experience.

So, what makes Strider one of the best pitchers in a loaded Braves starting rotation? Max Fried has the answer.

In a recent sit down with Grant McAuley, Fried was asked about Strider after his breakout season and what's the secret to his success. Plainly put, Fried believes its Strider's "discipline" that helps him stand out.

Fried went on to praise Strider's work ethic.

"His talent is immense. His work ethic and his discipline on preparation set him apart," Fried said and also noted how impressive Strider. He is "in tune with his body" at a young age and that he takes care of all of the "little things."

Whether its his talent, discipline, hard work, or a mixture of the three, the outcome is undeniable. Strider has staked his claim as one of the best starting pitchers, not just on the Braves roster, but in the entire NL.

Fried ended the conversation saying he's "happier to have him on our team than on the other side." A sentiment that is certainly shared through out the organization and the city.
