While it was seemingly never in doubt, that Atlanta Braves officially announced that Max Fried would be the teams opening day starter for the March 30's game against the Nationals.
Around the same time as the Braves made their expected announcement, the Nationals did the same as the opening game starters were set.
In 2022 Max Fried finished 2nd in NL Cy Young voting after posting a 14-7 record with a 2.48 ERA while Patrick Corbin struggled to a 6-19 record and a 6.31 ERA.
The Fried-Corbin matchup feels like an opening day letdown overall compared to some of the other pitching duels that have been announced.
