On Friday Randy McMichael and Mark Zinno (in for Andy) were joined by 92.9 The Game Braves Insider Grant McAuley who talked about when the Atlanta Braves might have 2nd Baseman Ozzie Albies back on the field and back in the lineup.

“I don’t feel like Ozzie (Albies) is 12 days away, I think he is probably more than that days away. Sometime in early September, first week, second week maybe, he starts to get a really clear idea of what his rehab assignment looks like,” replied Grant when asked how the Braves will handle Ozzie’s return with the emergence of Vaughn Grissom who has been filling in at second base while Ozzie recovers from his injury.

“The good news is he (Ozzie) is going to go on this upcoming road trip with the Braves, begin fielding ground balls, taking ‘BP’ (batting practice) every day and working himself back into just regular baseball shape and trying to I guess, as I said before, kind of check all the necessary boxes he needs to, to go out on a rehab assignment and start playing games again,” Grant added.

“You got to keep the best players in the lineup, you got to get all the production that you can and this Vaughn Grissom has continued to show himself to be the player he is over the last week and a half, his first week and a half in the big leagues mind you, this is a guy you can’t take out of the lineup no matter who is coming back,” Grant added.

After taking 3 out of 4 games from the Mets, the Braves now host the Houston Astros for a 3 game series beginning Friday night.

You can hear Andy & Randy every Monday-Friday from 11a-2p.
