As the Braves continue to find their way back to championship form and manager Brian Snitker searches for a lineup he feels the team can stick with, one player in particular that has been performing well when inserted in the lineup. In 19 games played, William Contreras has seen action at both catcher and in the outfield. However his outfield play has been the subject of questioning as he has had some struggles, whereas behind the plate, he has shown much more promise.

Add to the mix that Contreras is batting .302 with seven home runs and 14 RBI’s and has come up with a hit in eight of his last 10 appearances at the plate, Jon Chuckery shares his thoughts and says that he believes Contreras needs to be the everyday catcher for the Braves so that they can take advantage of his offensive production. “His bat needs to be in the lineup, but it’s hard to find a spot for him night in and night out,” Chuckery said referring to the use of Contreras as the Braves have said they would utilize him at various positions.

Chuckery continues that, in his opinion, “that’s beer league softball” and that as the Braves have to deal with Ronald Acuña’s injury and use him in the DH position, the Braves need to move forward with making Contreras their “everyday catcher,” so that the team can take advantage of his offensive production.
