Patrick talked about Charlie Morton’s year thus far.
“Dansby Swanson last night referred to him as Benjamin Button because he’s getting better as he gets older. Obviously Charlie Morton has been one of those guys that a lot of people have been talking about as a player the Braves might get rid of at the trade deadline, because he’s one of the players that might have the most value that they could trade away,” Patrick said. “But what if the Braves, instead of trading him away, what if they announced they signed him to a one year contract extension?”
“I came into this year thinking clearly that this was going to be his last year in baseball, but if you’re Charlie Morton and you’re throwing this well, you’re this effective why would you leave money on the table next year? Some team will pay you a lot of money to pitch for them and if you’re comfortable in Atlanta maybe that’s something you’d be down for.”
