While Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley were the offensive heroes in the Atlanta Braves’ 5-4 10 inning comeback win last night versus the New York Mets earlier today, The Morning Shift explained why Spencer Schwellenbach’s outing last night also played a vital role in the Braves’ victory.

“Schwellenbach allowed you to not have to throw in a [Enyel] De Los Santos, or a [Rafael] Montero, or a [Jose] Ruiz, or any of those guys. He allowed you to use your max guys.” Beau Morgan said

Those max guys that Beau is talking about are Pierce Johnson, Dylan Lee, and Raisel Iglesias who shined out of the Braves bullpen last night pitching three innings combined, and only giving up one hit, no walks, and striking out three batters as well.

Spencer going seven innings and keeping the game within striking distance for the Braves’ offense allowed Brian Snitker to use just his best bullpen arms, and that was key to Atlanta’s win last night, and key to the Braves getting a big win and getting off to a great start in this stretch where they play 13 straight games against the NL East.
