MLB free agency opened up at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday evening, and while some expected a flurry of action as soon as allowed, it's been very slow to get going as many wait for the first big domino to fall. That may be first baseman Freddie Freeman.
"$30 Million per year is the range," explains former MLB GM Jim Duquette. "the (Braves) money doesn't have to be even, as long as it's close.
"I can't imagine Freddie Freeman in another uniform. Even if there's another team that would pay that kind of money, does he really want to go or finish his career like Chipper Jones did, as a Brave for life," wonder Jim Duquette. "I'm not saying it can't happen, nobody thought Glavine was going to leave Atlanta. But it's such a rarity I can't imagine at the end of the day, especially if the offers are equal, him leaving Atlanta."
While the Braves are certainly still hope to bring Freeman back, there have already been reports that the Yankees and Rays have interest and everyone expects the Dodgers to be involved as well.
Jim Duquette also feels there is a mystery team that nobody is talking about that could play a role as well.
