The Braves open their home portion of the 2021 schedule today when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park.
The home opener is always a special game in any baseball city, but this one particularly will have a different feel to it.
The Braves haven't had fans in attendance at Truist Park since the forgettable Game 5 of the 2019 NLDS, a brutal loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bally Sports Braves Broadcaster Chip Caray explains just how much fans mean to the game and why today's game at Truist Park will have a truly special feel to it.
"This one is going to have a real deeper meaning. I can't tell you how much we missed the fans. The fans make the game," says Caray. "I've never been happier to hear Phillies fans boo than I was in that opening series. Seeing little kids get a souvenir, fans walking to the stands and sitting together is going to be emotional for us. We all realized how much we missed it and at times have taken the fans and the crowd for granted."
