92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes and Bell for his regular appearance on the show and talked about who will fill Spencer Strider’s spot in the rotation while he is out with an Oblique strain and what's next for Jake Odorizzi?

When asked about Odorizzi’s status after another bad outing on Friday and how they will fill Strider’s spot.

“That clunker on Friday I think was probably the coup de grâce, one of the worst starts by a Braves pitcher all season long and we’ve had a few clunkers here and there. With Jake, he said it after that start, either it was a strikeout or they were hitting the ball and they were hitting the ball hard and eight earned runs would tell you they were hitting the ball hard quite a bit,” McAuley said. “I think we’re gonna see Kyle Muller in this series against Washington, but Jake Odorizzi is gonna be thrown in that third game against the Nationals so that you can reset your rotation for this Mets series and a big reason why you have to do it and maybe trot him out there again is you’re already tapping into Bryce Elder to fill the spot of  Spencer Strider in this rotation.”

McAuley talked about the timeline of Strider to be ready for the postseason.

“I think the Braves have done as best they can to set up their rotation for this stretch drive, in particular that three game series against the Mets. The injury to Spencer Strider though, that’s just something that is going to be a hurdle they’re going to have to overcome and still fingers crossed he has no setbacks whatsoever as he gets ready for the postseason because you know you need him there.”
