The Atlanta Falcons held their first practice with the Dolphins on Tuesday in Miami. Reports began to trickle down after practice on how the teams faired against each other with several plays being won by the Falcons’ defense against a stout Miami offense.
One true test throughout the week, especially with mounting injuries in the secondary after rookie DB Clark Phillips was carted off during practice, will be how the back-end of the defense holds their ground against an electric Miami receiving corps.
“The depth we’ve got it everywhere, nowhere more than cornerback, and it will be tested right now if (Phillips’ injury) lasts into the regular season,” Mike Bell explained.
With their first preseason game looming Friday against Miami, the secondary will have to regroup and take what they learned from today’s practice and apply it when they hit the field on Wednesday.
