The Falcons have a lot of really good players on offense and defense, it seems like they have a really good Head Coach and General Manager in Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot, but honestly none of that will matter if they don’t get the quarterback position right because as we saw last season, even with a good supporting cast a successful NFL team MUST have a good quarterback. Earlier today writer for NFL.com Eric Edholm joined The Morning Shift and explained why he thinks Justin Fields joining the Falcons “makes a lot of sense”.
“I mean you know that makes sense for a defensive coach too to have kind of a running dual threat quarterback. I mean I could see that pairing making some sense.” Edholm said when Robb Tribble asked him who he thinks is the best fit for the Falcons at quarterback.
With the first overall pick in the draft and the ability to draft Caleb Williams It’s still unclear if the Bears will elect to keep Justin Fields or move on from him and draft Caleb Williams. Edholm says the general consensus around the league right now is the Bears are at the point where “If you want Fields you can have him”.
During Raheem Morris’ introductory press conference Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot said the team’s quarterback options are “wide open” this offseason so it’s probably safe to say they will at least look into the option of trading for Justin Fields.
