Falcons hiring a young OC to be Head Coach shouldn’t disappoint fans

The Morning Shift explains why it won’t be an automatic failure if the Falcons hire another young OC to be Head Coach

Jim Harbaugh has agreed to be the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, it seems like Bill Belichick becoming the Falcons next Head Coach is continuing to lose steam, so now more than ever it feels like the Falcons search for their next Head Coach is wide open.

Even though a lot of Falcons fans had either Belichick or Harbaugh at the top of their Head Coach wish list earlier today, The Morning Shift explained why fans shouldn’t be disappointed if another young offensive coordinator becomes the next head man in Atlanta.

Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson has helped resurrect Jared Goff’s career and is a huge reason why Detroit is going to be in their second NFC Championship Game in franchise history. The current one two punch he has in the backfield in David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs seem very similar to the backfield here in Atlanta with Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson. Now, the Falcons don’t have an Amon-Ra St. Brown on the roster, but I'm sure Ben Johnson could figure things out with Drake London and Kyle Pitts.

What Houston Texans Offensive Coordinator Bobby Slowik did with C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense this season speaks for itself, and even though it will be very tough to repeat just the thought of him being able to replicate that in Atlanta makes him a very attractive candidate.

There isn’t anything wrong with an experienced Head Coach, but the point is that just because it didn’t work with Arthur Smith doesn’t mean it won’t work with Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik or any other young coordinators.
