One of the strengths of the Falcons Defense heading into the 2023 season was expected to be the secondary, after adding Safety Jessie Bates and a few former first round CB's, but the injury bug is starting to take it's toll on the team, especially at the Cornerback position.

Jeff Okudah, who was in-line to be a starting CB had to be taken off the field on a cart on Friday at Falcons practice, and today during a joint practice in Miami with the Dolphins, rookie Clark Phillips, who had been turning quite a few heads with his play, also had to be helped off the field.

Clark Phillips was drafted in the 4th round by the Falcons after being the Pac 12 Defensive Player of the Year out of Utah, and had really flashed in the first two weeks of Falcons training camp.

While the news on Jeff Okudah was promising, potentially returning to the field as early as Week 1, we'll have to wait and see what the prognosis is for Phillips.

A position of depth and strength is now starting to get thin after back-to-back injuries for those competing for starting jobs.
