It is no secret the Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of a disappointing season with a 4-8 record and finding their offense back in the hands of Kirk Cousins after Michael Penix Jr. had season ending surgery to reconstruct a partially torn ACL in his left knee with the timeline for his return yet to be determined, leaving to question how the team will handle the start of 2026 should Penix Jr. not be ready to return.
And while there is still four weeks remaining in the regular season, the likelihood of the Falcons missing the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year are almost certain and left some to question if Atlanta head coach, Raheem Morris, and his offensive staff should return next season and if not, could the team be turned around with current roster and new coaching personnel.
“You don’t question the talent Michael Penix Jr. has, you just question the structure or the lack there of that’s surrounding him,” CBS NFL analyst and two-time Super Bowl champion, Bryant McFadden, said on Friday as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell afternoon show and explained why he believes with Penix Jr. can find success with the right coaching staff.
“So if they’re able to get an offensive mind that can’t stop utilizing the pistol every play and shot gun every play and maybe get some pizazz going offensively, it can help the entire offense along with a young quarterback,” McFadden said.
