As NFL teams begin preparing for the new league year to begin, all eyes will be focused on the combine next week as representatives from all 32 franchise will make their way to Indianapolis to evaluate the 319 players invited to participate.
For the Atlanta Falcons, there are multiple positions of need and new general manager, Ian Cunningham, will be addressing, including back up quarterback as the team has yet to come to any terms with Kirk Cousins, leaving his future with the franchise in question, and the timeline for the return of Michael Penix Jr. yet to be established.
And while Cunningham and his staff could potentially find a QB2 prospect to add to their big board, CBS Analyst NFL Analyst and two-time Super Bowl champion, Bryant McFadden, joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why he believes a “capable veteran” would be the best option for the Falcons.
“I think it would be smart to bring in another capable player at the quarterback position and I tend to trend more to a veteran option than a younger option,” McFadden said, explaining he does no believe the 2026 class of quarterbacks is one in which loaded with a lot of top prospects. “I think it’s watered down,” McFadden said as he made his case for why the Falcons would be better served with a veteran through free agency.
“I think the best option would be to go with a veteran guy.
A guy that has shown the ability to jump into the saddle when need be, give you serviceable production to keep things afloat if that was a worst case scenario,” McFadden said.
