The Atlanta Falcons will face a similar problem on Monday Night Football versus the Philadelphia Eagles as they had on Sunday against Pittsburgh. The Eagles bring a stout defensive front that will challenge the Falcons' offensive line in a big way. What can the team do to help quarterback Kirk Cousins get more time in the pocket?
1 - Change up the formations. The Falcons ran heavy pistol sets along with traditional dropback passing formations. Offensive coordinator Zac Robinsons will need to be more creative and not allow the defense to key in on certain looks. The question remains if Cousins is healthy enough to execute these looks despite Raheem Morris addressing the issue on Monday saying Atlanta's quarterback is not being limited by his injury.
2 - Give more help to the OL. The team used tight end Kyle Pitts to help chip block on Sunday, but it was of little to no help. Backup tight end Charlie Woerner should be used more even if his presence tips the hand which way the offense could be moving. Woerner is a much better blocker than Pitts and will be needed to aid an offensive line that struggled mightily once again in pass protection.
3 - RUN. THE. BALL. - The Falcons will be at their best when their running games gets fully online. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier make for a stout one-two punch and will force the opposing defense to be honest, accounting for their presence on every play.
