While the Atlanta Falcons are still in the midst of searching for their next head coach, there has been many reports that former New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick is the favorite to land the job. And while the organization has announced that they still have several candidates to interview, including a second interview with Michigan head coach, Jim Harbaugh, with Belichick being considered the front runner, there is concern from Falcons’ fans as to how much control would the 72-year old would have.
On Monday, Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden shared their thoughts on the various interviews that Atlanta has conducted to this point and Shapiro noted that he believes “everything keeps coming back to Bill Belichick,” despite the likes of Harbaugh, Rams’ defensive coordinator, Raheem Morris, Eagles’ offensive coordinator, Brian Johnson and several others being in the mix and reports that Belichick has yet to interview with any other team for their head coach vacancy.
“Do you really believe it’s an interview in a traditional sense of what are you going to bring to our franchise or do you think they’re talking about how are we going to build this thing together,” Shapiro asked as he and Golden continued their conversation, leading to the topic of whether or not how much control would Belichick be afforded would be the determining factor in the final decision on Belichick. Golden would further add that in a previous conversation with Laura Rutledge, the discuss or “control” for Belichick would likely be a topic of conversation in any interview he took part in.
