The NFL world rejoiced on Friday as it was revealed the salary cap will be skyrocketing $30 million next season. The cap will now stand around $250 million, meaning the Falcons and every other franchise can dig deeper into their pockets to fill out their roster. The question now becomes what positions should the Falcons target with that extra loot?
The biggest domino to fall will of course be who the Falcons decide will be their next quarterback. If they choose to move up and try and draft one of Drake Maye, Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels the team will have significantly more to spend. But if the go the route of signing a Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, or trading for Justin Fields they’ll endure a bigger hit.
Once QB1 is figured out, the team can start to look toward where to spend and where to draft.
Pass-rush will seemingly always be a need for this team.
Brian Burns, Danielle Hunter and Chase Young should all be in play for the team to sign. Veteran defensive backs like Stephon Gilmore are also available. L’Jarius Sneed is on the market but he may command too much money for the Falcons to justify bringing him in. Offensive line is usually abundant in the draft so expect the Falcons to be in play to draft a center or tackle.
