Atlanta Falcons All Pro and Pro-Bowl Safety Jessie Bates III has been the ultimate professional, team leader, and mentor since he got to Atlanta in 2023, and when you take into account his playmaking skills on the field, his wealth of football knowledge, and his character off the field it feels like there’s no better mentor for guys like Xavier Watts and Cobee Bryant.
When Bates joined The Morning Shift earlier and talked about mentoring the young guys he said he’s just trying to “give them the sauce”.
“I’ve been that young guy before and I was always around you know Vontaze Burfict and those type of guys that was very rough and just try to get around them and just understand what’s the good stuff I can learn from them, what’s the stuff that I don’t want to do, and I think that’s the similar things that you know when you’re having conversations with young players you just try to give them the sauce. You try to give them what you’ve experienced, good and bad, and hopefully they can learn from it.” Bates said
If the Pro-Bowler and two-time All-Pro can give guys like Xavier Watts, Cobee Bryant, Billy Bowman Jr., Clark Phillips III, and DeMarcco Hellams, and other young guys “the sauce” that has helped him be such a successful player and impactful player than the Falcons will have a very good secondary for the foreseeable future.
