Now that Russell Wilson is with the Pittsburgh Steeler and Baker Mayfield is staying with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two of the Falcons four top options at quarterback are off the table. Earlier today The Morning Shift explained why Kirk Cousins and Justin Fields are the top options left for the Falcons.

The Falcons could draft a rookie quarterback, but rumors and reports indicate that there is a growing gap between Caleb Williams, Jayden Danlies, and the rest of the rookie quarterback class.

Now, the Falcons could try to offer all the draft capital in the world to the Commanders and Bears to try and acquire either the first or second overall pick, but with the Commanders and Bears both having a team where they don’t believe in their current QB, want to move on from him, and want to draft a new franchise quarterback, even with a rich deal the Bears and Commanders may not even want to trade their pick, so they can draft what they hope is their franchise QB.

If every quarterback in this year’s draft besides Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels are major projects then that leaves the Falcons needing to either trade for Justin Fields or sign Kirk Cousins, and the Falcons will have to move fast too, so they don’t get stuck without either one.
