Kirk Cousins and Falcons front office locked in a game of chicken

Fans wanted him cut immediately, but that's also what he's hoping for. Kirk Cousins made comments earlier this week in an effort to speed up the process of becoming a free agent, but should the Falcons give the former QB1 his release? If they're petty enough, they could wait until the last-second before his contract guarantee kicks in either in an effort to trade him or at-least to penalize him for how he's acted.

"Both parties hold some form of power in the situation. The Falcons have him under contract and could punish him by just keeping him. There's no incentive for teams to trade for Kirk Cousins if they can pick him up for free after he's cut," says 92.9 The Game Atlanta Falcons Insider Joe Patrick. "It could get messy. Maybe the Falcons do find someone and Kirk can use his no trade clause and maybe they end up deciding to release him at the last second of the last hour of the deadline. There's cut-throat games being played at this point."
