The Atlanta Falcons are just a couple of weeks away from starting training camp. There are a few questions that need to be answered on their roster before anyone can make decision on whether or not this team can compete in its division.
First-year head coach Arthur Smith will be charged with trying to bring some life back into the offense after trading away the Falcons' best player, Julio Jones. Smith has a good track record as a play-caller. He helped revive Ryan Tannehill's career in Tennessee when no one thought the Titans' quarterback was a viable starter.
The Falcons would like to see if Smith can add some juice to Matt Ryan's career, at least for the next couple of years.

Josh Alper, of Profootballtalk.com, joined The Jon Chuckery Show to talk about Arthur Smith's hire, and whether or not he can get the job done in Year 1. "I think that hire makes sense from an offensive standpoint," Alper said.
Back in the spring, some thought it made sense to draft a quarterback for the future. But the Falcons made a commitment to Ryan by picking Kyle Pitts. With Smith calling plays and Ryan under center, the offense should be good enough to win some football games.
