The Atlanta Hawks made light work of the Orlando Magic Monday night beating them by a final score of 124-112, and the game wasn’t even that close. The Hawks extended their winning streak to 10 games and snapped Orlando's win streak at seven.
Now, there have been some people that have criticized Atlanta’s win streak because of the teams they’ve beaten during their streak, but earlier today The Morning Shift explained why the Hawks 10-game win streak shouldn't be minimized because of teams they've played during their streak.
“The Hawks shouldn’t be judged in any way other than this is a great stretch for them to me, because you’ve beaten teams you should’ve beaten and last night you beat a team ahead of you in the standings.” Beau Morgan said
Since February 22nd when the win streak began the Hawks are either first or second in the NBA in offensive rating, defensive rating, net rating, assist to turnover ratio, points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game. Atlanta’s win streak isn't about who they have or haven’t played it’s about the Hawks playing really good team basketball, and playing at the potential a lot of people knew they had when they traded Trae Young, upgraded their depth, and made Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker the focal points of the offense.
Teams that go on extended winning streaks get praised all the time for beating the teams they’re supposed to beat, being consistent every game, and not playing down to their competition. Well, the Hawks have done exactly that during their winning streak, and deserve that same praise.
