When Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris spoke to the media yesterday he was asked if Kirk Cousins was healthy and he made it very clear that Cousins is 100% healthy.
“I feel like Kirk [Cousins] is healthy. He’s been healthy since he’s been here, since he’s been back.”
Earlier today The Morning Shift explained why this is actually not what they or what Falcons fans should want to hear.
“We had this conversation yesterday and I said there’s only one of two options here. Option number one is that Kirk is still not 100%, you were protecting him, didn’t want him to have to move too much, the game plan didn’t work, and that’s what you got. Option number two is Zac Robinson in his role right now is a little bit overwhelmed and not quite ready for this step, and is going to have to dig real deep in his bag of tricks over the next couple of weeks.” Mike Johnson said.
Mike continued by saying “If we’re to believe Raheem Morris we’re dealing with option number two, and that’s more concerning to me than Kirk Cousins being not healthy. I would’ve rather heard him say well we’re protecting him.”
Mike would also go on to say that “What I think we saw Sunday very much was a Passing Game Coordinator that is calling plays, and that’s what it is, and there has to be more.”
It’s hard to believe that someone from the Kyle Shanahan/Sean McVay tree schemed up a game plan that only featured wide zone running plays, three step drop passing plays out of pistol and shotgun formations, and no play action passes or bootlegs.
What it comes down to is either Kirk Cousins isn’t healthy and we’re just not being told that, or Zac Robinson may in fact not be ready to be an offensive coordinator.
