As the Falcons begin to prepare for Sunday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their defense continues to be under scrutiny in regard to their pass-rush as they remain last in the NFL in sacks with a total of six for the season.
On Monday, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris spoke with Atlanta Falcons Radio Network color analyst, Dave Archer, and shared his thoughts on the team’s struggles to get opposing quarterbacks on the ground and why he believes he has seen “positive improvements by those guys." He did say, however, there needs improvements to continue week to week.
“Well this was their best game as far as pressures go,” Beau Morgan said on Tuesday as he, Tiffany Blackmon, and Mike Johnson reacted to Morris’ comments. Morgan noted the Falcons pressured Geno Smith on Sunday nearly 50 percent of the Seahawks' offensive possessions. However, Smith had a successful completion rate on some of the pass-rushes by the Falcons.
“Getting home is the problem for me,” Morgan continued as he explained he believes despite any narrative the Falcons may not have been aggressive enough on defense. The bigger issue is “they have not won enough” in their attempts to get opposing quarterbacks “on the ground.”
