As the Atlanta Falcons prepare to begin training camp on Thursday, excitement for their season continues to build among fans with first three open practices having already reached capacity, which appears to be an early indicator.
“Well is should be,” NFL Network’s Chief National Reporter, Steve Wyche, said on Tuesday when he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and shared his thoughts on why he understands the level of excitement from Falcons fans.
“Where are the excuses for the Falcons now,” Wyche continued as he explained the moves made by the Falcons this past offseason has positioned them to meet and maybe even exceed expectations this season.
“Their draft plan of drafting Michael Penix (Jr.) after signing Kirk Cousins, it’s in effect, Michael Penix (Jr.) is the quarterback.
You know, they go out, they add to their defense, finally pay attention to edge rusher in the draft and they get two,” Wyche said of the Falcons drafting Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr.
“The offensive line is good, the running backs are good, the receiver room is good, so where are the excuses? There aren’t any.
It is time to show up, let the process, let the plan play out and see if it results in a playoff berth,” Wyche continued, adding he believes expectations for the Falcons “should be high” and fans “demand that this team wins ball games because franklin when you look at the roster, when you look at the coaching staff, I’ll say it once again, there aren’t any excuses,” Wyche said.
