Reactions to veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins taking over as quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons have been met with some displeasure by fans of the team. On Wednesday, Steak Shapiro and Rusty Mansell shared their thoughts on why the move for Cousins is one that gives Atlanta something they have not had an opportunity to do for a few seasons.
"We have a shot for the first time in a long time to have meaningful January games," Mansell said to Shapiro as he explained that he believes the addition of Cousins gives the Falcons an immediate positive impact. "We have a chance to win games," Mansell added. In agreement with Mansell, Shapiro noted that he also believes that the mindset of Cousins will be focused solely on winning and not stacking individual honors.
"Here's what Kirk Cousins isn't concerned about, being the NFL Player of the Week, going to the Pro Bowl, he's done all those things," Shapiro said as he explained how Cousins has proven over the years that when healthy, he produces when accompanied with a talented teammates. "We need to win football games and we got two studs.
"Tyler Allgeier is an absolute freaking stud, only to be followed by the fact that Bijan Robinson is a game-breaker type player, but not when Desmond Ridder and Marcus Mariota are your quarterback," Shapiro said as he believes the addition of Cousins is the right fit for the Falcons' offense.
