With the 2023 NFL Draft set to take place this week on Thursday night, 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery shared the only mock draft that he has done for the year.
“I do one mock draft for the Atlanta Falcons,” Chuckery explained as he detailed his round-by-round process that does not include trades or the use of draft simulators. “The way I mock is I mock based upon the players and the positions that I would take, not what the Falcons would take."
With the Falcons first pick, the No. 8 overall pick in the draft, Chuckery’s selection is Myles Murphy out of Clemson.
“Look, he’s got the size, he’s got the length, he can play in different schemes, he’s got a quick first step, he’s got the strength, he can play against the run, he can get to the quarterback,” Chuckery said as to why the Clemson defensive end would be his first pick, especially since he believes that an edge-rusher is the position the Falcons need to address first in the draft.
As Chuckery continued to makes his picks, in the seventh round, he selected a quarterback for the Falcons as he picked Stetson Bennett with the 224th pick.
“Listen, seventh-round pick, you don’t have much invested into him," Chuckery said. "You don’t have a lot of draft capital in him. If you want to stash him on the practice squad, so be it. But I’m willing to take a flyer on a guy who’s won two national titles."
