Over the last three weeks the Atlanta Falcons have reached a new season high in points scoring 26 points versus the Saints, 36 versus the Buccaneers, and 38 points against the Panthers last week. With those increased scoring outputs week over week it’s not hard to imagine the Falcons winning all three of those games, and now looking for their first four game winning streak since 2019.
After the Falcons’ offense got off to a slow start this season people began to question Kirk Cousins’ health and question if first time Offensive Coordinator and play caller Zac Robinson was ready for the job, but now those questions have disappeared, so what changed? Former Atlanta Falcons Quarterback and now analyst for the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network Dave Archer told The Morning Shift how Zac Robinson and the Falcons’ offense has evolved.
“It’s about him learning his personnel. I think that we knew that there was going to be a growing period, it was going to be complimentary with his quarterback, his quarterback learning the people he’s playing with. I mean you can call plays all you want to but there’s another guy out on the field that’s executing those plays, and Kirk Cousins is a guy that’s started to come on as well. I think that those two guys are locked hand in hand, understanding rotations, when they want certain guys in the game.” Archer said.
Dave continued by talking about how Robinson is finding a rhythm when it comes to play calling, knowing what guys to lean on in certain situations, and Arch thinks Zac and the Falcons’ offense is only going to get better too.
“He’s settling into a rhythm as to what he can get to and who he can trust in certain situations, so I think it’ll continue to get better too I think.” Dave said.
There was a lot of new that Zac Robinson, Kirk Cousins, and the Falcons’ offense had to work through. New offense, new personnel, and even some new members of the coaching staff, and let’s not forget none of the offensive starters played in the preseason either. After seeing what the Falcons’ offense looked like in week one versus what the Falcons’ offense looks like now I think it’s safe to say they needed time to work out some kinks, iron things out, and get some real game reps in with each other as a unit. Now that they’ve done all that the Falcons’ offense and Zac Robinson is finally looking as good as everyone thought they would.
