Hawks to draft 'best available;' will look to address defensive needs

The NBA Draft takes place on Thursday and the Atlanta Hawks currently have the 16th overall pick and will look to improve a team that has been to the playoffs each of the past two seasons.

Atlanta Hawks general manager Landry Fields joined John and Hugh and discussed the draft plan and what needs they hope to address on Thursday and in free agency.

"We've got to do better, phone calls are coming in and we're trying to address the needs in order for us to take that next step as a group," says Fields. "We want to address our defense and progress in that area so that we can take it a little bit further next year."

The Hawks were the No. 5 seed in 2021 and made the Eastern Conference Finals. But they were relegated to the Play-In Tournament this season and ended up being bounced by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.
