The long-awaited Atlanta Hawks debut of Jonathan Kuminga did not disappoint as he finished with 27 points seven rebounds, four assist and two steals in 24 minutes of playing time. “When you see what he was able to do, he kept it real simple,” FanDuel Sports Atlanta Hawks analyst and former Georgia Tech standout, Brian Oliver, said of Kuminga’s performance on Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards.

“I don’t think that anyone expected him to come out and have that kind of performance, but if you’ve watched Jonathan Kuminga play, this dude has elite athleticism,” Oliver continued as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to discuss the impact Kuminga, who was the Golden State Warriors first overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, can have for the Hawks.

“One of the things he does is he gets to the rim, he gets down hill and I think one of the things that surprised me was the three-point shot. I know that he’s a guy that can make a jump shot, but he was three for four and I don’t know if he can sustain that, but the way the Hawks want to play with the open spacing and getting out and running fast breaks, I think that the time that he has and the number of playmakers the Hawks have in Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and also CJ McCollum, this dude can average anywhere between 18 and 20 [points] given the time,” Oliver said of Kuminga’s potential to provide Atlanta with ‘consistent scoring at the three position,”.
