Atlanta Hawks general manager Landry Fields spoke to reporters Wednesday ahead of the team's Summer League debut on Friday. Fields addressed numerous issues including the team's recent trade of Dejounte Murray.
Fields listed numerous reasons for moving on from Murray including the need to "reshape the roster" and "not being where they needed to be" in terms of competing. He added the decision was not an easy one but a necessary one in order to get the Hawks back into deep playoff contention.
The Hawks currently do not have an obvious replacement for Murray on the roster. Sophomore guard Kobe Bufkin could make the leap from The G League and Dyson Daniels, acquired in the Murray trade, could also be in the mix to start.
