The Atlanta Hawks have become their own worst enemy due to injuries. Jalen Johnson is the latest player to be lost for a significant period of time after it was revealed he will miss the remainder of the season with a left shoulder injury. The team has battled significant injuries over the last few season to the point where it now feels like an inevitability that they will play a part in the team's pursuit of the playoffs.
Bogdan Bogdanović, Onyeka Okongwu and even Trae Young have all missed significant time with injuries over the last few seasons. Young, usually healthy, played a career low 54 games last season and Okongwu played in just 55. It becomes an impossibility to make deep playoff runs when key contributors miss that much time.
Injuries are part of the game but the Hawks seem to suffer significant ones at an irregular clip. Injury reports this season have been lengthy at times with any given game having multiple key players out.
