The Hawks shouldn't make moves just to make moves

The Atlanta Hawks entered Thursday's NBA Draft as one of the more interesting teams to watch, but exited in underwhelming fashion - at least according to some fans. They stayed put at 16 and opted to select the 6-6 wing out of Duke, AJ Griffin. After Tony Ressler and Travis Schlenk insinuated that additions were on the way, fans are still waiting on the other foot to fall.

Some have been disappointed with the returns of the early parts of the offseason, but on the inaugural edition of The Hometown Take, Dylan Mathews took a different a approach.

"We (Hawks fans) were all hyped up for them to do something on draft night and nothing happened," Dylan said. "I think that they are doing the right thing. Let everything unfold first, they don't need to make a move right now! They're not required to make moves just because it's July 1st!"

Draft night came and went, but the Hawks didn't make a move. That doesn't mean that the Hawks are going to continue to sit on their hands. There is still plenty of time left on this offseason. Franchise-altering players like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Bradley Beal are still on the fence and have until next week before they need to decide on what they want to do with their contracts.

"I actually like the patience of Travis Schlenk and Landry Fields," Dylan said. "I like the fact that they haven't made a move for the sake of making a move because that's not what you want in a front office!"

Moves are coming, that much is known. Just because they haven't happened already does not mean they are not on the horizon. Patience is the name of the game for Hawks fans, because the best could be yet to come.
