The Hawks lost their fourth-straight contest last night at the hands of the Denver Nuggets 129-122. Denver came in on a three-game losing streak of their own but were able to handle their business on the road. Trae Young was ejected late in the third quarter and the team was unable to recover despite 40 points from Bogdan Bogdanovic. Young showed his displeasure with a call and was tossed by the officials.
A question that needs to now be asked is if Atlanta stars get the short end of the stick when it comes to officiating. Other stars in other sports tend to get the benefit of the doubt, especially at home. Trae Young, Grady Jarrett and Austin Riley do not get the same treatment as comparable players like LeBron James or Bryce Harper. Why is that?
Atlanta is not a city filled with major championships. If the Hawks had the hardware the Lakers or Phillies have would things be different? Perhaps. The city has had big names throughout its history but not to the extend of other big metropolises like a New York or Los Angeles. The city could do a better job of marketing its stars nationally as it does locally. Trae Young deserves the benefit of the doubt, but he may not get it anytime soon.
