Vít Krejčí: Hawks battling despite major injury bug

The Hawks made NBA history Monday night when Atlanta completed a 30-point comeback against the Boston Celtics and pulled off an unlikely 120-118 victory. The team, down multiple starters, was able to storm back after Boston seemingly took their foot off the gas is the second half. The team continues to get contributions from role players upping their game. One of those players, Vít Krejčí, stopped by Dukes & Bell Tuesday to discuss the victory.

The 23-year-old spoke on how excited he is to be a part of the team and that he feels his spot on the squad needs to be earned. A refreshing sentiment to hear as the team looks toward its young players to help fill the role of the likes of Trae Young and Jalen Johnson as they recover. Krejčí also stated his belief that the team can compete for the playoffs despite hanging onto the 10th-seed in the Eastern Conference.

Krejčí joined fellow Hawks Bruno Fernando and Garrison Matthews as players that have risen to the occasion without the starts in the fold. He scored 16 points Monday night including an efficient 4-for-7 from three-point range. The team will get another shot to take on the Celtics this week at home and another chance for fireworks as well.
