The NBA and every sport for that matter, is a copycat league. When something works, whether it is a schematic scheme, roster changes, style of play, the rest of the league follows that formula. The Denver Nuggets have shown us something that has always worked and existed in the NBA, the guard/ big duo. Whether it was Kobe/Shaq, Magic/Kareem, Stockton/Malone, now as recent as Jokic/Murray, it has worked in every era. Should the Hawks look to replicate this, and if so who would be Trae Young’s big man in the partnership?

I had former NBA Player and the voice of the Houston Rockets, Ryan Hollins, on my radio show, 2 The Max, every Wednesday at 11PM ET, and ran this idea past him. Should the Hawks look to acquire and trade for Karl-Anthony Towns? Towns is a proven big in this league who has an excellent ability to step out and shoot the three ball at a very efficient clip. Ryan shared his thoughts on if the Hawks and other teams should look to explore trading for Towns, “I think they will. I think you're right. Karl-Anthony Towns is a very intriguing name, and I think every center's value just went up…” Towns provides a very unique skill set that could complement Young’s game extremely well.

The Hawks have made it clear they are looking to be aggressive this off-season and look to improve the roster. The guard/big duo could be a very compelling route for the Hawks to take, considering Young’s incredible passing ability. As the center's value in the NBA has gone up, Towns could be the missing ingredient for the Hawks.
