Atlanta Hawks CEO Steve Koonin joined Dukes & Bell and talked about if the Hawks buyers or sellers at the trade deadline?

Koonin talked about the teams plans at the trade deadline.

“Because of the new format of the postseason with ten teams qualifying you have a lot more buyers than you have sellers, you really only have a couple of sellers. Oklahoma City, a little bit of Detroit, you got a whole lot of buyers, people really looking to improve their team.” Koonin said “So I don’t know if there is going to be a robust trade deadline this year, could be, could be crazy.”

“Normally you have six or eight teams who everybody on the roster is for sale. So what we’re planning to do is we’re going to listen, there’s some areas we’d like to upgrade and if we don’t anything we’ll feel pretty good about and if we do make a move obviously we think we got value in doing that. In the past couple of years we’ve taken on bad contracts for draft picks, those aren’t the things we’re doing this year, so we’re much more of a buyer than a seller.”
