Atlanta United President Darren Eales joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the hiring of new manager Gabriel Heinze, how he fits what the team wants to do strategy-wise, and Heinze can re-establish Atlanta United to be where they want to be.
Eales talked about why he thinks Heinze was the best fit for the United.
“We’re really excited, we spoke about taking our time and making sure we got the right man taking us into the next chapter and I think with Gabriel Heinze we got somebody that’s a young up-and-coming manager that’s frankly coveted by a lot of clubs around the world,” Eales said. “We had to put our due diligence in, but I’m thankful in the end he’s chosen us as a project to go forward with in 2021 and we’re pretty excited for what the future holds.
“So you know, this was a coach that we felt really fit the mold of what we're trying to do. I mean, he's passionate, he wears his heart on his sleeve. And a lot of our fans will have seen the videos of him, you know, even as a player he was, you know, famous for being fully committed. I think through our experience that he would tackle his granny if he could, or needed to. So yeah, this is a, you know, someone who is there in his coaching work really dedicated and been remarkably dedicated and focused.”
