When speaking with The Midday Show, Elliott professed his excitement for racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“I always look forward to going to Atlanta," Elliott said. "I think it’s cool that we’re having two races there again this year.” However, he would go on to say he would love if it was under the lights.

"I feel like that would be nice for the drivers and the folks watching,” Elliott said. A night race at AMS was a normal scene from 2009 to 2011 when the track’s usage on the schedule was reduced to only one race a season.

The 2022 season marks the first time two races have occurred at the track since 2011 and is also the first races on the new track surface. In the offseason, following the Spring 2021 race, Track Executive VP and General Manager, Brandon Hutchison announced that the banking of the track would be increased from 24 degrees to 28, as well as narrow the racing surface from 55 inches to 40.

Elliot has yet to win on his home track in his Cup Series career, his top finish was fifth in 2017.
