According to a report from Andrew Marchand of the NY Post, Drew Brees may be "in the mix" to replace Troy Aikman as Fox Sports' lead color commentator after only one season with NBC.

Sources that spoke to Marchand said that Brees grew to enjoy calling games in the booth rather than sitting in a studio as an analyst for the Sunday Night Football's pre and post-game shows.

However, some may think this report is just noise since former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen has been the lead in-house candidate to replace Aikman, joining his former partner in his rookie broadcasting season Kevin Burkhardt who is replacing Joe Buck after he and Aikman departed to ESPN.

While Aikman's contract expired with Fox, leaving him free to sign a five-year, $90 million deal with ESPN, Buck left with one year left but was allowed to go and pen a massive contract at the Disney-owned network, with sources saying it's worth $60-75 million.

Marchand also notes that even if Olsen gets the job, Brees still could work on Fox's second team with guys like Joe Davis or Adam Admin. Amazon is also reportedly interested in Brees, leaving the possibility of him working on 'Thursday Night Football' games.

While some may have been critical of the former Saints QB's performances on live television, especially during the playoff game he called with Mike Tirico, network execs at Fox still have high hopes for the future Hall of Famer.

This offseason has been memorable for all the moves happening on the field, but the one happening amongst NFL broadcasting booths is substantial. Now that Amazon is the streaming service for "Thursday Night Football" games, Al Michaels will be the lead play-by-play guy teamed up with Kirk Herbstriet. This offseason has been a significant one for NFL broadcasters. Tirico is calling Sunday nights on NBC with Cris Collinsworth, and Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews has drawn interest from ESPN.

This surely will not be the last new update on movement in the NFL broadcasting world.
