Yesterday Kirby Smart and Mike Norvell were supposed to have a press conference for the upcoming Orange Bowl matchup between Georgia and Florida State, but on Wednesday the press conference was canceled, and the reason why it was canceled has not been revealed.

Rumors are now swirling that the press conference was canceled because the Seminoles are planning to boycott the Orange Bowl. Earlier today, The Morning Shift debated if they believed this rumor, and discussed if this could be the beginning of schools starting to skip the non-playoff bowl games, if Bowl games would be better off played in the preseason, and if bowl games in College Football could be headed towards extinction all together.

Moving the bowl games from the end of the season to a preseason would most likely not change anything because those players that sit out because they’re preparing for the NFL, or just don’t have any interest in playing because of the lack of stakes in the game would most likely just sit out that preseason game too.

However, the TV revenue and sponsors seem to not be going anywhere anytime soon, and until that happens bowl games in College Football aren’t going anywhere either.
