
The Georgia Bulldogs stole the sports headlines on Monday following the nation’s top quarterback recruit in the class of 2026, Jared Curtis, announcing his commitment to Georgia, choosing Kirby Smart’s team over the Oregon Ducks.
And while the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Curtis will not make his way to Athens for another year, the 5-star recruit as drawn comparison to a former Bulldogs quarterback Matthew Stafford, which 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes believes “is saying a lot” about the future Georgia signal caller.
“Matt Stafford was great at Georgia and Matt Stafford was the number one overall pick coming out. That’s a hell of a comparison,” Dukes continued as he explained why he believes the Curtis, Stafford comparisons could be considered an oversell based on the career Stafford has had collegiately and professionally.
“Stafford’s going to the hall of fame. Look at his numbers, look at the yards, completions, he’s going to the hall of fame,” Dukes added noting he wishes Curtis finds success in Athens, however believes time will only tell if he will be able to build a career the likes of Stafford. “Now you’ve set the bar,” Dukes added.
