While the College Football Playoffs have the Georgia Bulldogs ranked as the No. 4 team in the country, their 35-10 win over the Texas Longhorns a week after their 41-21 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs have some believing they may be the best team in the SEC.

“Earlier in the season, up to the loss to Alabama, I felt like this is not a typical Kirby Smart defense and they were kind of hanging on for dear life, but it’s definitely gotten a lot better,” Stewart Mandel of The Athletic, said on Thursday as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why Georgia’s past two performances have convinced him the Bulldogs are indeed an improved team from the start of the season and a contender for the national championship.

“The defense was dominate last week against Texas as it was the week before against Mississippi State, Gunner Stockton has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC,” Mandel said as he noted the two wins as his reason to believe the Bulldogs are the SEC’s top team. “I know [Texas] A&M is ahead of them in the standings, but I think that Georgia at this point in time, is probably the best team in the conference,” Mandel said.
