Georgia ranked #1 in Coaches Poll; receives all but 5 first-place votes

The first of the two major College Football preseason polls was released today and unsurprisingly the Georgia Bulldogs is the top ranked team.

The USA Today Coaches Poll was released at Noon on Monday and UGA received 61 of the 66 first-place votes and was far-and-away the top ranked team.

Despite not receiving any first-place votes, Michigan came in ranked 2nd, their highest ever preseason ranking. The five remaining first-place votes went to the 3rd and 4th ranked teams, Alabama (4 votes ) and Ohio State (1 vote).

The SEC led the way with six ranked teams, including 4 teams in the top ten, followed by The Big 12 and the Pac 12 both putting five teams into the top 25.

Notre Dame, the only independent school to be ranked, is slotted in 13th, and Tulane, who is ranked 23rd, is the only Group of Five team to receive a ranking.
