For the second time in three weeks Georgia's final home game of the season has been cancelled as Vanderbilt continues to face issues with depth and roster limits. It's just the latest in a series of unfortunate events for UGA's senior class.

While there is still a chance that UGA is able to find a fill-in opponent and give the seniors a final walk-out, there's still a bridge to gap to get something done before Saturday.

For a final season for many UGA players, a pandemic-filled 2020 was more a nightmare than the realization of a dream. A season that began with championship aspirations is going to end quite a bit short of the desired finish line.

Things got off to a less-than-ideal start when Senior transfer QB Jamie Newman decided to opt out for the season. That threw the wheels into motion of a carousel of QBs as we saw three guys receive starts this season (Mathis, Bennett, and Daniels).

Eventually the team lost its two biggest games of the season (to Alabama and Florida). And while they seemed to find their offense with J.T. Daniels as starter, it was too little, too late to make the SEC Championship Game.

For this senior class, the final moments that many had looked forward to, Senior Day, their final home game as a member of the team, has been pulled out from under them twice due to COVID concerns within the Vanderbilt program.

There are 23 seniors in the Georgia program who won't (at the time of this posting) receive a final walk-out and will miss out on a few other possible recognitions they would have received with a win.

If UGA faces another SEC team and wins they would actually be declare Co-Champions of the SEC East along with Florida (Gators are still the representative in the SEC Title Game due to the head-to-head win). No senior class has ever won the East Division four years in a row.

The UGA Senior Class also would tie the 2005 and 2019 groups for most wins in school history with 44.

If UGA doesn't find an opponent for this Saturday they will likely head to a New Years Six Bowl to conclude the season, but it still won't quite feel complete to the senior class..
