One of the major pieces of the 2022 UGA defense has been missing the last few weeks, but he may be closer to returning than we thought.
Preseason All-American Jalen Carter has missed the last two games after suffering an MCL injury in the October 1 win over Missouri. Coming off the bye week, Kirby Smart didn’t sound too optimistic in addressing where he thought Carter and Adonai Mitchell currently were.
“They’ve done a little bit, but we don’t feel great about them," Smart said. "Jalen’s probably looked better than Ad, but I don’t know at this point if either one of them will be able to play.”
On Wednesday’s "The Steakhouse" with Steak and Rusty Mansell, Rusty gave an update on what he saw and heard after Tuesday’s practice, where Jalen was able to do more than at any point in the past two weeks. And even in a limited fashion, Rusty feels that Jalen could be able contribute to a defense looking to limit a Gators offense averaging 430 yards per game. Florida comes in with the third best rushing attack in the SEC at 213 yards per game.
The Dawgs and Gators will kickoff Saturday at 3:30 ET on CBS.
